More than one million dollars, $1,019,000 to be exact, has been distributed to more than 6,000 owner-members of Fall River Electric Cooperative as part of the Co-op’s Patronage Capital program. Members that received power in 1997 and a portion of 1998 received these cash back payments. The amount of each check was based on the amount of power they used in those years. These check payments were authorized by the Cooperative’s board at their November meeting after determining the excellent financial condition that the Co-op was in.
Cash back payments to customers and communities served by Fall River Electric are part of a unique benefit provided cooperatives over investor-owned utilities. You can learn more about Patronage Capital here on our website by clicking the QUICK LINKS topic by that name.
