Consolidation Proposal With Lower Valley Energy

All the information you need to know about Fall River Electric Cooperative’s proposal to consolidate with Lower Valley Energy –

In January 2016, Fall River Electric Cooperative’s Board of Directors announced their intention to investigate combining Fall River with Wyoming based Lower Valley Energy and creating one cooperative. The idea of working together for the mutual benefit of both cooperatives and their members has been considered for several decades, but with changing national energy policies as well as regional policy changes planned by the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), the idea of consolidation appeared more practical than ever.

Below are a number of documents for Fall River Electric owner-members to help them understand the proposal. The “Resolution” document was signed by both boards but the “Memorandum of Understanding” shown below was a draft document that ultimately was not agreed to by the two boards. The merger study conducted by EES Consulting was updated in April 2016. On September 7, 2016, the planned consolidation was put on hold for the foreseeable future (see consolidation press release below).
