Hydroelectric Facility Operator Full Time Position – Ashton, ID

We are seeking an experienced, safety conscious, highly motivated individual with the skills to fill the critical position of Hydro Operator for our Chester hydro generation facility.  Located in the upper Snake River valley, Fall River is a non-profit electric cooperative, established in 1938.

Hydro Operator key responsibilities include:

  • Operate, maintain, and monitor all hydraulic and electrical equipment.
  • Service, repair and perform routine maintenance on facility equipment, and associated buildings and grounds.
  • Maintain specified water flows and water levels.
  • Maintain accurate records for the reporting and documentation of facility operations.


  • High school diploma or equivalent. Training and education in hydroelectric plant operation and maintenance at a craft journey level.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify. Prefer three or more years of experience in the operation and maintenance of hydro generation plants.
  • Ability to use heavy lifting equipment, hand and power tools, computer/software programs, truck and trailer.
  •  DOT Class B CDL license, and will have or obtain overhead crane certification.
  • Reside within an approximated 15 minute response time to the Chester, Idaho hydro facility.
