Stand up for rural America – a message from CEO Bryan Case

In presidential election years, about 60 percent of eligible voters nationally vote while during midterm elections only 40 percent vote. Tuesday, November 6th we will be electing members to Congress, to state legislatures, governor, lieutenant governor, and other state offices plus other state initiatives & referendums. Additionally, you will be voting for county officials, district judges, advisories, levies and more. The individuals we elect and the issues that are decided at the polls will influence us, our children and grandchildren for years to come. That is why is it so important for you to exercise your right to vote.

Rural voter participation has grown, and it is important that we continue to exercise our influence on national and local issues which is why Fall River Electric Cooperative has joined with hundreds of other electric co-ops across the country in a nonpartisan national program, Co-op Votes, to turn out as many co-op voters as possible on Election Day.

As a consumer-owned business for more 80 years, we want to do our part to significantly increase voting at midterms and that’s why I’m reaching out to our owner-members to urge you to vote in this year’s elections. I hope you’ll add your voice to the growing chorus of rural voters who want to make sure the candidates know we’re going to the polls, and we’re going to voice our concerns about the needs of our own communities.

Every vote counts. Stand up for rural America. Polls are open in most states from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. We hope to see you on Nov. 6.
